The non-farm employment of rural labor is an important way to realize the full employment of rural labor, increase the income of farmers, promote the development of rural economy, and ease the contradiction between urban and rural areas.Social capital as a kind of social resources which is invisible to the social relations network, The role of social capital in the non-agricultural employment of the rural labor force can not be ignored.Based on a set of survey data of farmers in 16 villages in Kaihua,Linan,Longquan and Yongkang country,zhejiang Province.This paper analyses the social capital’s impact on rural labor employment time.First of all,the data is from the survey,Survey of 4 counties(cities) in Zhejiang province and the situation of rural labor force non-farm employment,Including the research points and sample characteristics,the Non-farm employment of rural labor force of the length of time,Location distribution,Industry distribution.Then on the basis of the employment status of rural labor force,to organize and network, trust and solidarity, information and communication, empowerment and political behavior as a measure of social capital,In the year of the farmers’ labor force per capital non-farm employment as the dependent variable,Using Tobit model to empirically analyze the influence of social capital on rural labor’s non-farm employment time.Research shows that:The participation of the social capital has a significant negative effect on the non-farm employment.The farmers think that the higher the degree of unity village, non-farm employment time longer;If labors participate in the organization, the more non-farm employment time will be shorter;The farmers think their own higher degree of prestige in the village, non-farm employment time will be a longer;The cost of transportation and communication service has positive effect on the non-farm employment. The higher the cost of transportation and communication, the longer the non-farm employment time, at the level of 5%.Human capital variables are positively correlated with the duration of education, health status and non-farm employment.The average age of family characteristic variables has a negative effect on the time of non farm employment.Household labor force per capita arable land more non-farm employment time shorter, per capita forest area more non-agricultural employment time longer;Sample county economy more developed, the non-farm employment time is longer.
