In recent years, the employment of the rural labor force is caused extensive concern of the whole society. With the development of economy and the improvement of agricultural productivity, under the traditional economic accumulate a large amount of labor in agriculture urgently need to be liberated from the agricultural sector. In the current Chinese rural labor employment and income sources increasingly diversified background, promote the transfer of rural labor to non-agricultural fields is to increase farmers’income and promote rural economic development of key initiatives. In this paper, using the peasant household survey data in Gansu province in 2012, using multivariate logistic regression model, with the first generation of rural labor force and the new generation of rural labor force as the research object, respectively, from the non-farm payrolls occupation and payrolls industry angle, human capital intergenerational impact of rural labor force non-agricultural employment has carried on the empirical analysis.The results show that, human capital for the promotion of rural labor force to achieve non-farm employment and raise the quality of employment has a very important role; education is one of the most important factors. Rural non-farm employment level and quality of the labor force is low, mostly are hired way and concentrated in the low-end sector jobs, mostly engaged in the career for the cultural quality of professional knowledge and skill is not high. New and old two generations of rural labor rendering differences in non-agricultural industries and career choices. The first generation of the rural labor force mostly chosen construction, and mainly engaged in primary career. However, the new generation of rural labor force in non-agricultural industry choice on a more balanced distribution, and no longer focused on primary career, the number of professional managers and technical personnel has increased the proportion of, quality payrolls is significantly higher than the first generation of the rural labor force. Human capital impact of rural labor force non-agricultural employment exist intergenerational differences, different mainly displays in the influence factors and influence degree, influence of non-agricultural industry and non-agricultural occupation are different.The best choices of promote the rural labor’s off-farm employment and improve the off-farm employment quality are increase investment in human capital and improve the human stock.
