Study On The Management Of Agricultural Product Quality Safety At The Present Stage

The situation of agricultural product quality and safety has a direct influence on people’s daily life; helps increase the efficiency of agriculture and farmers’ income, and maintain social harmony and stability. As the quality safety of agricultural products has become one of the most important livelihood issues nowadays, it is the responsibility of our government to guarantee people can buy safe, healthy foods. On April 29th 2006, Law of The People’s Republic of China on Quality and Safety of Agricultural Products was passed during the twenty-first meeting held by the tenth session of the National People’s Congress, which specifically required the management of agricultural product quality and safety must be included in the national economy and social development planning of all governments above the county level. The regulation system of food safety was legislated in China since.In the first place, this paper summarizes researches of the quality and safety of agricultural products both home and abroad. By using related economy theories such as externality, asymmetric information, public goods and government regulation, this paper thoroughly enumerates agricultural product safety problems when market failure happened. Meanwhile, the paper learns from quality safety control system of agricultural products as well as successful experiences in the United States, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany and other developed countries. After doing field survey, data collection and case analysis, this paper analyses current situation of agricultural product quality and safety supervision in Jiangsu province. Finally, the paper provides government departments further countermeasures and suggestions on supervision and regulation of agricultural product quality safety.
