The Strategy Research Of Industrial Transition And Escalation For National Health Technology(Zhongshan) Park

The National Health Technology Park(Zhongshan) locates in Zhongshan Torch Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Guangdong Province. Its establishment was approved by Ministry of Science and Technology in 1994. With its development and improvement in the past 20 years, the industrial cluster of health technology has been one of the pillar industries in the area, and has certain influences nationally. There has been about 180 enterprises settled in the park, and the industrial cluster is constructed by the leading industries: Biological Pharmacy, Medical Equipment and Medical Information; and subsidiary industries including Healthy Food, Cosmetics, Pharmaceutical Packaging, and Medicine Logistics.The year of 2008 was an important year for The National Health Technology Park. The National Development and Reform Commission has confirmed that developing health technology industry will be the next goal, to build the industrial cluster of Zhongshan Health Technology Park with international competitiveness and rapid economic growth. Since then, the development of the National Health Technology Park is booming, and the industry of health technology has been the urban brand of Zhongshan City nationally and internationally. However, the economic environment has been transformed greatly within the nation and worldwide, some hidden issues of the industrial cluster within the Health Technology Park are gradually appeared, including shortage of resources, the proportion of medical and health services and leading enterprises is relatively low, lack of innovation strength in health technology, and so on. This paper will analyze the development, present situation and issues of the Zhongshan Health Technology Park’s industrial cluster, by applying the following research methods, including literature analysis, statistics analysis, field research, and expert interviews. In addition, this paper will summarize, compare and contrast the development patterns of other advanced health technology industrial cluster nationally and in the worldwide; and will combine the actual environment and situation of the local in order to determine the development patterns of Zhongshan Health Technology Park, and to clarify the goal and direction of industrial transition and upgrade, and finally determine its strategy and security measures.The research findings of this paper will be beneficial and has certain reference value for not only Zhongshan Health Technology Park industrial cluster, but also other similar industrial cluster within the country, and other industries in the Zhongshan Torch Development Zone. Furthermore, it will provide certain guidance for occupying a leading position in economic growth for the Zhongshan Torch Development Zone within the nation.
