The Effects Of Global Trade Facilitation On Chinese Imports

This paper explores the effects of trade facilitation on Chinese imports. First this paper uses literature research to expound the connotation of trade facilitation and research situation at home and abroad, then analyzes the nearly 10 years the situation of Chinese imports from three aspects:Chinese imports’ scale, commodity structure and geographical distribution. Last but not least introduces the main situation and the development of international trade facilitation, and then illustrate the influence mechanism of trade facilitation on Chinese imports from five aspects:improving infrastructure, customs clearance efficiency, the regulatory environment, the development of information and communication technology and optimizing the financial environmentThis paper uses the factor analysis to extract the indicator of trade facilitation, then, uses this method to calculate the index of trade facilitation. Second, selects the panel data of 2009,2011,2013 and 48 countries, using gravity model to analyze the effect of trade facilitation to the import of China. The study finds:(1) the degree of trade facilitation has a positive stimulating effect on import; (2) If trade facilitation increase 1%, China’s imports will increase by 1.787%; (3) China can improve the level of trade facilitation and promote the development of China’s foreign trade through improving the degree of clean government, optimizing the environment of regulation, completing the legal system, strengthening the cooperation with other countries.The innovation of this article is including two points:First, analyzing the influence path of trade facilitation on Imports. Second, building the index system of trade facilitation with the factor analysis method of multi-index panel data; Third, researching the trade facilitation’s effect on Chinese imports with empirical method, existing mainly from the perspective of the theory analysis to research this question. Little literature researches the trade facilitation’s effect on Chinese imports with empirical method, this article from the perspective of empirical analysis to study the impact of the trade facilitation on Chinese imports, and this complements the existing research.
