In current environment of supply chain collaboration, how to correctively and Scientifically selecting potential supplier source, qualifying and managing the supplier, actively developing and launching supplier’s partnership, creating win-win situation, becomes the key point of the manufacturing enterprises to improve competitive advantage. Vendor selection and assessment are the basis and premise to establish collaborative supply chain management between companies. The strategic suppliers that established the true strategic cooperation relationship have a very important impact on the manufacturers from the product quality, product cost, delivery, inventory turns and new product developingAs everyone knows, automation industry is very huge and comprehensive in the environment of supply chain collaboration, and one automotive parts manufacturer usually faces to hundreds and thousands components suppliers. How to select, assess, and manage these vendors with the relative various and kinds resource in the company internal, is the most significant problem that company faced to in current situations. As the strategic suppliers have the features of high product performance influence, high purchasing amount, small substitutability, so the main resource and vigor of the company on the strategic supplier is the highest priority in the company internal. How to select and assess the strategic supplier is a significant strategic decision, a key link that forming long-term, stable and win-win strategic partnership between manufacturers and suppliers, which can influent the supply chain operation stability in manufacturers.This paper attempts to study the strategic suppliers selection and assessment of Shenglong Company and establish the strategic supplier assessment index system, according to the Shenglong company current status and company development features under the current environment of collaborative supply chain.The main content of this paper can be listed as the follows.It proposes the current status of the strategic supplier management in Shenglong Company, the main problems on strategic supplier selection and evaluation, and the corresponding cause analysis. Then, it establishes the strategic supplier evaluation index system of Shenglong Company, including main 5 indexes, such as produce quality, cost reduction, delivery ability in mass production phase, cooperation ability from first article phase till mass production phase, innovation and development potential. This research has highlighted the cooperation ability and the development potential. This index system highlights the cooperation ability and the development potential, which reflects the different emphasis on the strategic supplier assessment of the automotive industry. At last, about the supplier performance improvement and motivation aspects, this paper raises the different performance improvement methods, the positive motivation and the negative motivation conceptions, and five different motivation methods according to different strategic supplier.
