Thailand Rice International Trade Research

Rice is the chief type of food crops in the world, the quality will directly affect their commercial value. Thailand, as one of the world’s largest rice exporting country, its rice sales volume is with top ranking as always. Not only high-tier rice owns very high market share, low and middle tier rice, parboiled rice, glutinous rice are competitive in global market also.With the growing of other new rice exporting countries, such as the United States, Vietnam, India, Pakistan and China, it is urgent for Thailand rice to activate its grow power in global market.This research of farm situation in Thailand, rice sales system and channel, combining domestic consumption and international trade policy, applying the index of RCA (revealed comparative advantage), this paper gets the learning on’Thailand high quality trade’and give constructive recommendation on ’how to keep rice continuous growth’.This study is divided into 5 parts as following:The first chapter is research background, causes and important of problems, the objective of the study and the research study using Revealed Comparative Advantage Index and RCA index.The second chapter is the review of international trade theory and related research on both of domestic and international tradeThe third chapter is focuses on the situation of Thai rice production and consumption including Thailand agricultural land, farm situation, Thailand production cost, Thailand rice sales system, rice chain, Thailand rice Domestic Consumption, rice prices etc.The fourth chapter is focuses on the situation of Thai rice trade including rice trading situation, rice distribution channels, trade barriers. Simultaneously providing an analysis on key rice exporting countries’ rice trade using the RCA index of Vietnam, the United States, India, Pakistan, China and Thailand to gain an insight on Thailand rice comparative advantage.The fifth chapter is the conclusion on Thailand high quality rice international trade and recommendation on how to keep continue growing of Thailand rice.
