Procurement Strategy Study Of Marley Based On Material Classification

Quickly respond to market change and customers increasing expectation is a big challenge to manufacturing enterprises. Optimizing procurement management to ensure customer orders on time delivery and at the same time reducing cost, which is important to the manufacturing enterprises to gain more customer orders and more profit. Marley is an US company which produces electrical heaters, with the cost of China products rising, now the cost is little difference between China products and the US products. In the background of manufacturing return back to US, Marley faces great pressure of China factory shutting down.This thesis firstly introduces the background of Marley and characteristics in organization structure, production and purchasing process. Then the thesis uses SWOT analysis and concludes the importance of procurement management optimizing in Marley. Through the analysis of current management, find out the problems that exist in the procurement management. Then based on material classification theory, establish material & supplier classification matrix and implement corresponding procurement strategy. The thesis also establishes the supplier selection and performance evaluation index model to monitor the supplier continuous improvement according to the theories of supplier evaluation, quality control and delivery management. Finally, the thesis summarizes the new management strategy and prospects for further research.
