Statistical Analysis On Regional Disparities In Liaoning Province

Nowadays, our era is the era of rapid economic development. With the progress of science and improvement of living standards, we deeply feel the rapid development of China’s economy has entered an unprecedented period. But at the same time, some regional disparities caused by early economic policy are also emerging, which restricts the healthy and stable economic development. Liaoning province, With good geographical location, is one of the important province of northeast old industrial base in China, and it is also an important hub in northeast China opening to the outside. In recent years, increasingly significant differences of economic development among regions in Liaoning province has become an important factor restricting the development of economy. The economic foundation in the northwest Liaoning is weak, and its economic structure is unreasonable, so it is lack of competitiveness in comparison with other cities. However, the speed of economic development is fast in Shenyang and Dalian. As we know, the radiation ability is not strong, and is lack of overall planning, which expands the economic differences. In order to promote the harmonious development among regions, reduce social contradictions, maintain the stable development of national economy, some national strategies have been put into effect, such as "One Belt And One Road" and "Yangtze River Economic Zone". The implementation of these policies is an important opportunity. So to fully understand and know the current regional economic development in Liaoning province is very important for the regional economic development in the future.The dissertation comprehensively analyzes the regional economic differences in Liaoning Province from the perspective of both qualitative and quantitative. Firstly, the dissertation introduces the theoretical basis of the regional economic disparity, and the connotative definition, then provides a theoretical foundation for the subsequent analysis. Secondly, the dissertation describes the basic overview of Liaoning Province and its current situation. Using multi-index analysis, single index analysis and spatial analysis to measure the economic differences among 14 prefecture-level cities and three secondary areas. We can easily find the regional differences by ranking and categorizing them. Through the empirical analysis, we can find that the regional economic disparity in Liaoning Province is significant and presents the growing trend, and expand accelerated significantly since 2004. The economic development level of Shenyang and Dalian is higher, but it lags behind in the northwest Liaoning. In the mass, regional economic difference present a certain geographical agglomeration phenomenon, economic backward area mainly concentrated in the northwest. And in each of the secondary internal differences in the contribution to the overall area, the contribution of coastal economic belt on the regional economic differences is largest in the whole province. So, to solve the problem among cities in coastal economic belt is the most important thing. What is more, the regional economic differences are mainly concentrated on the difference of the second industry. However, as the industry upgrading constantly, the different development of the third industry is gradually obvious. Finally, the dissertation analyses the relationship between the regional economic changes and influence factors from five aspects, including history and policy, natural environment and infrastructure, industrial structure, level of production input and level of foreign trade. We can put forward the following suggestions:Improve policies for regional development, strengthening the construction of infrastructure of underdeveloped regions; Optimize regional industrial structure, promote the upgrading of industrial structure; Guide the rational flow of factors of production between regions, increase the intensity of opening to the outside world; Strength connection, encourage the developed region to play a leading role. These analyses are proposed for relevant departments to formulate the regional economic policy.On the academic contribution, there are several innovations in this article. Firstly, this dissertation focus on the study of regional economic disparity in the province and selects Liaoning Province as research object, which provides a new train of thought to solve the problem radically. Secondly, this paper combines with the various analysis methods to study in a more comprehensive way. There are also some limitations and deficiencies in this dissertation. First, restricted by the author level and the data acquisition capacity, the selection of indicators is not comprehensive. Second, the dissertation focuses on the study of the present situation of the regional economic difference in Liaoning province, lacking of quantitative research on influence factors, so the actual impact cannot be calculated, but we can concentrate on this aspect in further study.
