China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor serves as a significant part of “One Belt One Road” Strategy, which is an important bridge connecting the vibrant economic circle of East Asia with that of European. The development of this economic corridor enables China to collaborate further with both Mongolia and Russia in the economic field. Depending on its geological advantage, Inner-Mongolia has become a vital pivot of China-Mongolia-Russia cooperation in a comprehensive way, as well as a crucial component of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and a frontier of opening up to Northeast Asia. The study makes its basis upon related researches in the past, illustrates a series of foreign trade figures from 1993 to 2014, which includes trades between China and Mongolia, Russia respectively, also between Inner-Mongolia and the latter two countries. After analyzing current economic cooperation development and each country’s trade intensity based on figures mentioned above, the study points out advantages and weaknesses of Inner-Mongolia’s participation in China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor. While advantages are listed as location, policy, economic cooperation fundament and opening-up, weaknesses lie in the doubt of “One Belt One Road” casting by some Russians and Mongolians, as well as institutional differences of economic cooperation, Mongolia’s changing policies, bottleneck of Inner-Mongolia’s collaboration with Russia and Mongolia, etc. It’s of great importance that Inner- Mongolia should fully exploit its advantages in all aspects such as geological location, entry port, industrial complementarity, cultural communication and cross-boarder tourism. Thus, Inner-Mongolia should be able to advance its participation in the economic corridor, promoting the implement of “One Belt One Road” Strategy and accelerating China’s opening-up process northwards. The enhancement of its role in economic cooperation will help Inner-Mongolia in multiple ways, such as speeding up economic development, seeking new economic growth point as well as motivating the construction of free-trade zone within China-Russia-Mongolia area.
