Spatial agglomeration and diffusion of industrial development is an important issue in the study of human economic geography. The spatial process of industrial development is complicated and diversified. Biopharmaceutical industry is a knowledge-intensive and technology-intensive industry with long development cycle, high cost, high risk and high profit characteristics. It is difficult to complete the whole process from research and development to production independently. Opening innovation cooperation across the cluster local spatial scale has become an inevitable choice for the development of biopharmaceutical industry. Biopharmaceutical industry represents dualistic spatial pattern of the coexistence in local high concentration and the global spreading in the practice. This phenomenon has triggered a boom in the study of human economic geography scholars. It is of great academic value and practical significance to deeply analyze the inner mechanism of the spatial agglomeration and diffusion of biopharmaceutical industry.Based on the six biopharmaceutical industry foundations in Shanghai, the author analyzes the spatial agglomeration and diffusion mechanism, and evaluates the rationality and validity of its space. The scientific and feasible suggestions are put forward. Theoretical analysis and empirical research are used in this essay. This essay draws the following conclusions:(1) The agglomeration effect is not obvious among Shanghai biological medicine industry bases. The biological medicine industry bases are lack of the conditions of organic integration of enterprises, universities and research institutes, and it is too loose within the base. Within the Zhangjiang-Zhoukang(international medicine park) base, Zhang Jiang plays a role in promoting the development of the international medical park to a certain extent.(2) The diffusion effect of the biomedical industry base in Shanghai is not significant. "Zhangjiang Medicine Valley", as the base of R & D, the spillover, derivation and transformation effects of the innovative achievement are not significant among the other bases.(3) The role of the government on the biopharmaceutical industry base go awry. Although the government pays enough attention to the development of medicine industry, the construction inclination of the six bases, which follow the official planning, are deviated from the intrinsic rules of spatial agglomeration among the biomedical industry.(4) Innovation-driven development of Shanghai biopharmaceutical industry urgently needs to strengthen the spatial clustering of the city, and promote the implementation of "each base with a garden" of operations and development. In dedicating to gather and use of the global biomedical innovation’s resources, it achieves the strategic coupling with the global production network and innovation network.
