The Value-added Services Of Automobile Logistics In Dalian Automobile Terminal

With the leaping development of China’s auto industry and the steady increase of national income level, China has become one of the nations on wheels. In 2015, China has once again found itself at the first place in producing and selling automobiles in the world, which drives the considerable development of China’s auto logistics industry. Being the intersection of various modes of transport in automotive logistics chain, the automobile ro-ro terminal has the natural advantages to become an integrated logistics center combining the goods, information and fund. The overseas automobile terminal has played an irreplaceable role in the chain of information, logistics and fund. However, the domestic automobile terminal is still in the phase of loading and unloading to make profits. People are lack of theoretical knowledge and technical support on the development of value-added services of automobile logistics. Meanwhile, they are unsure about the profitability brought by it. Therefore, how to enhance the regional competitiveness of the automobile ro-ro terminal, how to promote the scientific development of the auto logistics industry and how to raise standards of service in order to make the best use of the terminal is an important topic research.This thesis discusses the value-added services of automobile logistics in Dalian Automobile Terminal Company (hereinafter referred to as "DAT"), basing on the analysis of the current operating situation of DAT as well as the SWOT analysis to illustrate the existing problems while developing such kind of service. By using the exponential smoothing method, the author also forecasts the volumes of imported automobiles of DAT, so as to make a correct judgement of the future tendency of this service in DAT. And on this basis, on one hand, the author puts forward the idea of value-added services, including PDI, inspection, validation, maintenance and some other services; on the other hand, a concrete plan for DAT to develop value-added services besides the original business is proposed. Through performing a serious of risk assessments such as the financial risk, the market risk and the ecological environment risk, the author draws a conclusion that it has remarkable economic benefits to develop value-added services of automobile logistics in the case of DAT.
