Container transportation developments rapidly in the field of maritime transportation because of its features like high efficiency, high benefit and high security. It is badly contributing to the international multi-modal transportation, and at the same time, it can greatly meet the requirement of" door to door" in the modern logistics. Container throughput in China increases year by year with the growth of container transportation. In2013, there were seven ports of China within the ten largest container ports all around the world, and the national container throughput reached0.205billion TEU with15.62%growth rate in the past decade. Faced with the good market opportunity, the capacity of container terminals is the key port for ports competition. The storage yard system is a part of the port system, whose operations and service have a direct impact on berth time and handling costs, thereby affecting the turnover of ships and cargo. So studying on the container storage yard from different points of view in order to improve its capacity is very necessary.In the paper, the transmitted capacity of Dalian container storage yard system is selected to study, on the basis of the analysis about its situation and problems, and a model is set up by using the principles and methods of queuing theory, then come up with countermeasures and suggestions to improve the container storage yard system of Dalian Port.
