The Empirical Study On The Impact Of Technological Innovation On The Export Trade Of Shandong Province

Since the 21 st century, with national technological level rising and power of science growing, technological content in worldwide exports increases consistently.Today, what decide the level of international trade are technology and talents. With much research, there is no denying that technology and creativity is necessary for a country’s long-term advantage. If one country has desire to maintain their unique competitive advantages in international competition, to be at the high end of the value chain in international division of labor, to optimize the structure of export commodities and strengthen its role in promoting economic development of a country,technological innovation is no doubt an inevitable choice for a country or a region.As one of China’s coastal economic provinces, Shandong province, plays an irreplaceable role in China’s foreign trade by virtue of the advantage of its geographical location. Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, Shandong provincial achievement in the development of foreign trade is obvious, especially after entering the 21 st century.During this period, the total value of exports increased from $ 15.53 billion in 2000 to $ 134.51 billion in 2013, an increase of more than 10 times. However, the development of today’s socio-economy is slowing down, and the international competition is increasingly fierce. It is our fervent hope to maintain good momentum in the development of export trade in Shandong province, to continually play the leading role of Shandong provincial export trade in Shandong province and even the whole country.This thesis analyzes the export trade of Shandong province in recent years from the perspective of the total value of exports, the structure of exports and the means of of exports. It is found that there was a steady rise in export trade of Shandong province.In the context of increasingly advanced technology related to import and export products and with the increasing require of consistent innovation in China, the impact of technological innovation on the export trade of Shandong province has become the focus of this study. In order to illustrate the technological innovationsituation in Shandong province, technological innovation has been segmented into the input of technical innovation and the output of technical innovation in this thesis. This thesis selects a representative variable respectively in capital’s input in technological innovation, personal investment and the output of technological innovation in Shandong province to do empirical research, finding that technical innovation has a significant promotion to export trade of Shandong province. Finally, according to the Shandong provincial export trade, problems in technical innovation investment currently, combined with the technological innovation variables on the empirical analysis of the export trade of Shandong province, this thesis also catches up with some personal advice in Hope of that the export trade of Shandong province would be increasingly competitive in international market on the basis of technological innovation.
