Research On Influencing Factors Of Commuters’ Selection Intention Of Bicycle-sharing Program In Beijing

In recent years, the vehicle pare in Beijing has been increased constantly, which caused the environmental and social problems such as traffic jam and air pollution; thus, the importance of public transport is becoming more prominent. Beijing government takes bicycle-sharing program as the significant content of constructing green travel system and perfecting public transport service system; meanwhile it greatly promotes the construction of bicycle-sharing program. However, current utilization rate of bicycle-sharing program is relatively lower, residents’ complaints of bicycle-sharing program are more, and their intention of use of bicycle-sharing program is lower.Based on Theory of Planned Behavior and Perceived Risk Theory, this article researched the intention of use of bicycle-sharing program. By combining with the difference of demographic variable, it analyzed the influencing factors of intention of use of bicycle-sharing program, and established the model of intention of use of bicycle-sharing program so as to make the influencing factors of intention of use of bicycle-sharing program clear. This study carried out empirical research of Beijing through large-scale questionnaire.The research result indicated that, attitude, perception behavior control and subjective norm are the major influencing factors of intention of use of bicycle-sharing program, which all positively affected the intention of use of bicycle-sharing program. The perception of risk negatively affected the selection intention of bicycle-sharing program. Personal and family attributes also influence the selection intention of bicycle-sharing program from various aspects. There are obvious differences in the intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program between two genders, among which male selection intention is higher than female; there are obvious differences in the intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program among different ages, among which the intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program is the strongest at ages of 26-45; there are obvious differences in the intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program among different family incomes, which indicate that the higher the family income is, the weaker the selection intention will be. There is obvious positive correlation between educational background and intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program, which means that well-educated crowds’ intention is higher than less educated people are. The distance from address to the lease site of bicycle-sharing program can affect trip intention obviously; it means that the closer the distance between address and lease site, the higher the intention will be. The distance from workplace to the lease site of bicycle-sharing program can affect trip intention obviously; it means that the closer the distance between workplace and lease site, the higher the intention will be. The situation of possessing private car also presents obvious differences in the intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program since the commuters without private cars show higher intention of selecting bicycle-sharing program than those possessing private cars.Based on the result of empirical research, the countermeasures and suggestions for intention of use of bicycle-sharing program raised from two layers of government and operator play important practical significance in improving the utilization as well as generalization rate of bicycle-sharing program.
