Small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises in China’s foreign trade has been an important force, and the development of small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises to the healthy development and stable growth of China’s foreign trade has a vital impact. Meanwhile, China’s cross-border e-commerce in the internet economy era is constantly evolving. Cross-border e-commerce has been developing rapidly as a new way of international trade. A large number of small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises develop into a bottleneck, the development of cross-border e-commerce can make up for the disadvantage of small and medium sized foreign enterprises in capital, brands, channels and costs.This paper examines a range of issues concerning small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises developing the cross-border e-commerce. Also it analyzes the China status of cross-border e-commerce, and interpretation the national policies and regulations, analyzes trends in cross-border e-commerce. This paper researches the influence of cross-border e-commerce to small and medium sized enterprises foreign trade enterprises in theory. This article explores the opportunities and obstacles of small and medium sized trade enterprises developing cross-border e-commerce and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from different angles according to the problem.Research methods: First, this paper uses literature research. The situation of small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises’ development under the cross-border e-commerce background is learned by reading a lot of literature. Second, the paper uses survey method. Through internships and research, this paper explains the plight of small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises in transition and upgrade. Third, the paper made a summary of the method. On the basis of literature research and investigation, analysis and summary of China’s small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises to upgrade the existing problems. Fourth, we use data analysis. So, this paper is more convincing by using data analysis.Specifically, the content of the article can be divided into six parts. The first part of the article explains the subject background, research significance and research methods. Thesecond part of the paper analyzes the status of developing the cross-border e-commerce. The third part of the paper analyzes the necessity of developing the cross-border e-commerce at a different angle. The fourth part analyzes the opportunities of cross-border e-commerce to small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises, including the constantly developing of electronic information technology and so on. The fifth part analyzes the challenges of cross-border e-commerce to small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises. The fifth part expounded the strategies against the question of small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises developing cross-border e-commerce, including government, industry associations and enterprises.In summary, our cross-border e-commerce brings more energetic and new opportunities for the development of small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises. Using electronic business platform to change the traditional business model, enterprises should cultivate brand awareness and have the Internet ideas. The Government must keep up the pace of cross-border e-commerce’s development and implement kinds of specific policies. And it is crucial to set up all kinds of information service platform for foreign trade enterprises. It will be create a better environment for cross-border e-commerce.
