This paper aims to explore the influence of Chinese culture values in Generation Y employees in hotels organizational context. The detail research includes:the effect of Chinese culture values onemployees’career competence and work engagement, and the mediating role of career competencebetween Chinese culture values and work engagement.Firstly, this study proposed the theoretical model based on theories of Chinese culture values, career competence, and work engagement. Second, quantitative research methodology was used, and a total of 530 data were collected targeting Generation Y employees in the hotel industry. SPSS software and structural equation modeling (SEM) were utilized toanalyze the data. Third, some suggestions forhotel management practices were proposed based on the empirical findings.The main findings of this paper are as follows:(1) Chinese culture values have positive effects on career competence; (2) career competence has positive effect on work engagement; (3) social integration and moral self-discipline (two dimensions of Chinese culture values) contribute positively to work engagement.Theoretically, the contributions of this study to the literature are as follows. First, this study explored the relationship among Chinese culture values, career competence, andwork engagement, which may provide new findings to the management system. Second, this study linked the Chinese culture with management, and provided some useful findings. Third, this study examined the mediator role of career competence between Chinese culture values and work engagement, which provide innovative findings and useful guidance to human resource management in a dynamic situation.Practically, the findings of this study may help the hotelmanagers develop valuable managing methods. First, this study may encourage hotel managers pay more attention to cultivate Chinese culture values of Generation Y employees to develop more useful managing mathods. Second, by setting up a suitable career management system, this study helps Generation Y employeesshow more work engagement, which will improve work efficiency and reduce turnover rate. Finaly, this study may contribute to improve career competence of Generation Y employees, and eventuallyget the win-win situationbetween staff and hotels.
