City Competitiveness Index And Satisfaction Of Migrant Workers

With the rapid development of Chinese economy, more and more people get the opportunity that getting rid of household registration and land restriction. They can move to city to seek better working chance and better life. The process forms a large number of migrant workers. In this urbanization process, the migrant workers have made great contributions. But their status is relatively lower than the local workers. The researches on their life satisfaction effectively show the living conditions of migrant workers. There are many factors affecting migrant workers’life satisfaction, including age, gender, education, income and other objective factors, personality, experience and other subjective factors. There are a lot of literatures about the influencing factors of life satisfaction. Many of them mentioned that trigon impacts life satisfaction, but they did not specific on region factor. We use city competitiveness index to quantize the region factor, trying to find whether the migrant workers’ work city makes difference on life satisfaction, expectation or the difference between them.In this thesis, the introduction shows the relative research on competitiveness index and life satisfaction of migrant workers. There are various cities in China, so that we can get the data of workers in difference cities. The theory part introduces three difference types of city competitiveness index and the hypnosis on how do them influent on the life satisfaction and expectation. The analysis part is based on data from 25 provinces. The analysis part we get the result that government should build "service-orient government", including increasing government transparency, improving the awareness of servants. For migrant workers, making a balance of economy and security will improve their life satisfaction.Research shows that in the medium harmonious city competitiveness index area, migrant workers have higher life satisfaction. In the medium incremental competitiveness index area, the difference between future expectations and the life satisfaction of migrant workers is largest. There is no significant difference in life satisfaction. For the middle school education level migrant workers, the correlation between harmonious city competitiveness index and life satisfaction is significant.
