The Study On The Efficiency Of Chinese Economy Hotels Based On The DEA Method

Economy Hotel is not only a service industry with huge consumption potential and franchising widely used, but also is outstanding in the hotel industry. As the investment scale of economy hotels continuously expanding, the degree of competition in the industry is growing. In addition, affected by the environment of slowing overall macro-economic growth and againsting waste, the beneficial result of economy hotels presents the downward trend. But the key to improving beneficial result of economy hotels is to enhance the hotels operating efficiency.In this context, the relevant study of efficiency evaluation of economy hotels and efficiency optimization attracted academic attention. First, this paper reviews about the hotel’s efficiency to get the main research methods and some useful results. Then, review the development of Chinese economy hotels industry, we can find out the status of Chinese economy hotels industry. Then, based on the perspective of corporate chain organizational model, the CCR model and BCC model of data envelopment analysis (DEA) are used to comparative analysis the operating efficiency of 12 economy hotels in 2013.The results show that in 2013:the overall efficiency of the Chinese economy hotel is not high, but the average pure technical efficiency at a high level; the performance differences between different organizational models economy hotel chain significantly, in addition to the little difference of pure technical efficiency, are both predominantly company-owned chain> plural form> predominantly franchised chain. Additionally, this article analysis the operating efficiency of three listed economy hotels from 2009 to 2013. We also analyses the external and internal factors affecting the efficiency of economy hotels and uses Tobit regression model to analyses factors affecting the efficiency of economy hotels. At last, we give some suggestion based on data and the results.
