Accompany with the concern from central government to cold-chain logistic in recent years, more and more logistic companies pay attention to this Blue Ocean field of cold-chain logistic, and simultaneously lots of On-line retailor are also engaging in fresh food’s cold-chain distribution which is a part of cold-chain logistic. These 2 changes bring a tremendous challenge to the original cold-chain logistic companies. Under such circumstance, the traditional cold-chain logistic companies have taken active action to comply with this trend with methods of building up proactive mind-set, optimizing current process flow and upgrading company’s core competitiveness. BPI – Business Process Improvement, as an important method of process optimization, can lead the traditional cold-chain logistic companies to renew their process, in order to cope with the ferocious competitive environment nowadays. This article starts from the key process in cold-chain logistic, and proceed the research of BPI by means of focusing key point, clarifying connection and refining the steps of cold-chain logistic company.X company is foreign-invested logistic company. In 1990’s, it entered China following the expansion of M company which is a famous international fast-food company. X company is a strategic partner of M company providing logistic service of sourcing, warehousing, cold-chain and Import-Export business. X company has been doing business in China for more than 20 years, it has introduced the concept of cold-chain logistic to China whilst no one in China knew what cold-chain is. However, more than 90% business of X company are from M company, thus the processes of X company are made according to M company’s requirement. But this process system is not suitable for current development trend of cold-chain logistic, and it will affect the experiencing of M company. X company needs to be changed, and the board has implemented the BPI in key process of X company.The author has participated in this entire project, and adopted the method of observation, deep discussion and holding research forum, to diagnose and analyze X Company’s status. Meanwhile the author has collected the materials of current process, including the operation mode, the function of departments and the control method of process. This article utilizes the methods of systematic transformation, flow chart and benchmark contrast to analyze the current process thoroughly, finds the existing questions and the reasons behind those. After that, this article raises a series scientific process system to optimize the current process, for the X company to adapt the competition of new industry environment, focusing promoting X company’s service level and competitiveness by reducing quality issues, decreasing cost and accelerating efficiency.By using the example of X company’s cold-chain transportation process optimization, this article proposes a solution for X company’s optimization including the optimization of order process, temperature control process and delivery process. At the end of this article, the conclusion of optimization implementation and contrast is made according to the real situation, in order to promote X company’s competitiveness through improvement of the key processes. At the meantime, the article has given solution and suggestion against to the optimization during implementation from an internal insight. The other related cold-chain company may also find reference or experience from this article.
