The Quality Problems And Countermeasures Of Agricultural Products Exports Of China

Agricultural trade is picking up with the integration of the global economic. However, the fierce dispute concerning the quality also accompany with it. The contamined cucumbers incident, the melamine incident and various influenza events make people focus their attention on the quality issues of agricultural products tightly. The exports of agricultural products are blocked, which can be mainly attributed to the quality. But to a greater extent, the reason is that the developed countries take advantages of subtle non-tariffs barriers to ward off our products by virtue of their technical superiority. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the current situations> the problems and countermeasures.This paper takes an example of USA, Japan and Europe which have a close contact with China in the import and export of the agricultural products, and combine the method of literature analysis with benchmarking to analyze the situation of China’s exports of agricultural products due to quality problems suffered from custom. At the same time, it will have a comparative analysis among different quality standards in the revelent categories of agricultural products. Firstly, it has a literature review on the papers which are concerned abount the quality of domestic and international agricultural products. Secondly, it will have an analysis on the current situation of agricultural exports since we joined in WTO. Following it is the analysis of benchmarking on Japan. Then it will compare our quality standard monitoring system with the one of United States, Japan and Europe standards.The results of this paper are classified into three aspects. First, the huge trade deficit is growing. The export species are extremely simple. The export market is mainly concentrated in the USA, Japan and Europe. The technology of the trade way is low. Secondly, our exports of agricultural products to Japan which are hindered are focused on seafood, and the main reason is microbiological contamination, pesticide and veterinary drug residues and biotoxins pollution. At the same time, our problems from the comparison of different quality standards have come out. That are lower standards and imperfect system. Again, the finally reasons of the agricultural products quality problems will come out. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of China’s agricultural exports, increase export earnings, it requires the joint efforts of government, industry organizations and business.
