Rare earth materials is one of the key materials as the world develop high technology and sophisticated national defense technology, transform traditional industries indispensable, in energy-saving environmental protection industry, information technology industry, high-end equipment manufacturing industry, new energy industry, new material industry and new energy car, providing strong support to China’s strategic emerging industry. At present, the rare earth material industry in our country is forming a huge complex technology cluster. Analysis of the rare earth materials technology cluster mode of existence, mining the main cluster technology in rare earth materials industry, related technology and technical cooperation, visualization of rare earth materials technology cluster, and putting forward corresponding to promote technological innovation strategy, for China’s rare earth industry technology development has theoretical and practical significance.Based on the patent technology data, through the analysis of social network, this paper finds out the technology cluster theme, technology association and cooperation relationship of China’s rare earth material industry technology cluster. First, screening patent classification information and patent applicant patent data information. constructing the technical relationship matrix and co relation matrix, the relationship between these two matrix respectively indicate the China’s rare earth materials industrial cluster network and cooperative relationship. Then, through the center of analysis and visualization analysis of social network analysis method, two relation matrix are analyzed.
