Manufacturing industry is the core of the real economy, and countries all over the world reach a consensus, that is, manufacturing industry is the foundation to maintain the national competitiveness and healthy-developed economy. The roadmap “Made in China 2025” aims to transform from “Made in China” to “Created in China” through taking innovation ability as the core driving force, and the integration of informatization and industrialization as main line. With the deep fusion between information technology and manufacturing, manufacturing in China is characterized by intelligent and networked production modes, customized and service-oriented product patterns, flat and virtual organization structures, etc, of which the core features are a high degree of informatization, intelligentization, and servitization in cooperative industry chain, and the principal mode presented by such core features is servicee-oriented manufacturing which is supported by integration, sharing and dynamic cooperation of manufacturing-related information systems. Service-oriented manufacturing reforms fundamentally on aspects of value innovation, organization, marketing, etc. Diverse, complex, and dynamic participants, and uncertain internal and external environments make the issue of the robustness of information systems increasingly prominent. Robust information system which can operate normally under various unexpected situations, is the basis to promote service-oriented manufacturing. Therefore, establishing and evaluating a index system for robustness of service-oriented manufacturing are vital to the transformation and upgrading from traditional manufacturing to service-oriented manufacturing, which is the motivation of our research. The research has significant practical and social significance.This paper tries to use methods of Delphi, literature research, interview, and etc to analyze the factors that influence the robustness of a SMIS. On the one hand, based on analytic results, this paper establishes a index system of robustness, and construct a AHP—fuzzy model to eavluate the index system.What’s more, a case study is conducted to verify the validity of our model.On the other hand, we use interpretative structural model to sort out the index system.In first chapter, this article elaborates the background and significance in establishing and evaluating the index system of robustness of a SMIS.The second chapter presents literature review of related research about models of service-oriented manufacturing, system robustness, and so on, which is designed to expound the necessity to construct the index system of robustness for a SMIS.In third chapter, the paper defines service—oriented manufacturing information systems, analyzes the generating principle of robustness on the basis of existing research, and finds reserved indexes according to brainstorming of experts, literature research, research results of our laboratory, etc. By employing two rounds of Delphi method, we determines the index system of robustness for a SMIS.In fourth chapter, the paper constructs the AHP—fuzzy model to assess the indexes based on literature research,and verifies the proposed model through the information system in Hitachi elevator-manufacturing enterprise. We obtain the key indicators of SMIS robustness for the enterprise, and these indicators include management system, management mechanism, operation management, etc.The fifth chapter sorts out and analyzes the complex relationships among indexes by applying interpretative structural model.
