Research On The Economic Efficiency And Development Strategy Of Gansu Seed Leading Enterprises

The development of seed industry started late with weak foundation and backward technology in China. The ability of commercial breeding is low, and the quality and quantity of the variety differ from that of developed countries. As the core power of seed industry,obviously, the competition ability of seed enterprises in market competition is weak. In the market of crop varieties, many varieties are monopolized by the giants of multinationals in seed industry and domestic species facing the situation that falls across the board. Therefore,how to improve the competition ability of the main body of the seed market, and how to keep the advantage in the future market have become a problem that has to be taken into account.Gansu Province is an important seed-breeding base in China; the major seed enterprises have layout in Gansu Province, so the study on the listed companies of seed industry in Gansu Province has certain representativeness. In this thesis, firstly, we choose the representative seed enterprise by cluster analysis, then evaluate the economic efficiency of its business.With Dunhuang seed as the representative in Gansu and the seed industry chain compared,the thesis analyzes the characteristics and stage of seed industry. With seed enterprise management concerned about the development direction of the enterprise, the thesis explores development strategies for enterprises. By constructing a system dynamics model and the development strategy of Gansu seed enterprise simulated, the thesis analyze the adjustment strategy to construct the overall framework about the thoughts on the future development.This research contains seven chapters. The introduction, the programme of the thesis,mainly discusses the research questions, ideas, methods and logical framework. The second chapter contains the related theory and the review of previous studies. The third chapter to the seventh chapter is the core part of the paper, which analyze the basic situation of Gansu seed industry, the economic efficiency of leading enterprise, the model construction of seed enterprise industry chain and the strategy. The seven chapters summarizes the conclusions of this paper, puts forward the suggestions for the development of seed industry and prospects the further research work unfinished.This paper assumes that the comprehensive efficiency of Gansu seed companies which is in the stage of increasing scale with the potential for development at present, is relatively low. This paper suggests that enterprises should take the market preemption strategy to improve market share and to gain the competitiveness with the rapid expansion of market share at present. Only in this way can the enterprises gain the profits to strengthen it. The enterprises will take breed innovation as foundation and as their main direction for the future,persisting on it at the moment. The enterprises should take strict management measures tocontrol the cost during the whole process of development. This paper does not recommend Gansu seed enterprises to implement the strategy of profit maximization to achieve maximum profit. Gansu seed enterprises do not have the ability to implement diversified development,which should make full use of the advantages of agricultural policy to focus their energy on their main business, not dispersing the manpower, material and financial resources for diversified development with the expansion of unrelated industries.Based on this, this paper puts forward the suggestions for the development of seed industry stating that the government should implement the supply-side reform, increasing the intensity of production capacity, adopting the policies to actively guide the innovation and development of small and medium sized enterprises. The government should double their efforts to make the small and medium-sized enterprise merged and integrated by the operation of the market, regulate market order to make the seed management legalized. The enterprises should accelerate the construction of innovation system, increase investment in research and development, improve the ability of varieties innovation; the enterprises should combine their own characteristics and market environment to clear their own position and to select the proper strategy.
