AS high cotton products demand is increase by people, the dosage of sizing is very large for cotton yarn. In view of the present difficulty biodegradable of PVA size, it is very important to research a size that it is of a kind of easily biodegradable cleaning size in development, with the requirement of development of environmental protection. The purpose of this study was to develop a kind of easily biodegradable cationic protein size, and used to replace difficult biodegrade PVA size, and upgrade the raw material value recycling of discarded protein. At the first, by using a gelatin protein as a raw material, emulsion polymerization with acrylic monomers, create a kind of protein derivative size; And then react with a highly homemade reactive cationic crosslinking modification agent(WLS),the preparation of a quaternary ammonium salt type cationic protein derivative size, it will be used for cotton and polyester/cotton yarn sizing.Based on grafting ratio and grafting efficiency of size, sizing rate,increaseing rate,ratio of stretching and hairiness reducing rate as the evaluation index, study the glutin, acrylamide, butyl acrylate mass ratio, dosage of emulsifier, initiator dosage, synthetic temperature, synthetic time and dosage of the WLS synthetic technological conditions on cotton yarn sizing effect were studied. The best synthesis process of protein derivative size were determined. And the structure and properties of the size were characterized and analyzed.The results show that the study of the synthesis of cationic protein derivative size is the target product, and it has good biodegradable properties of the coating. The strength of yarn were effectively improved, the hairiness of yarn were reduced, and it can replace difficult to biodegrade PVA size. After appropriate conditions of pretreatment, dyeing performance was significantly improved, yarn dyeing percentage increased significantly. And the size was used gelatin protein as a main raw material, it can effectively use waste, so the size was conformed to the demends of the green environmental development, and it has a good application prospect.
