Hole drilling is one of the most common used methods for material removal, and the conical drill in practical application is the most common used, but this kind of drill has many shortcomings, for example, centering is not good, axial force and torque is quite large, while the helical drill point is to improve the above problems. In view of the above, Northeastern University has developed SD-1 type and SD-2 type manual helical drill point grinder, biglide drill point grinding machine and three parallel drill point grinding machine. The mathematical model of involute helical drill and grinding technology is based on the biglide parallel machine.This paper mainly study on the following aspects:(1) The trajectory of the moving platform of the biglide parallel machine is analyzed in detail, and then according to the suitable for grinding of involute spiral surface to find the corresponding trajectory.(2) According to the actual wheel position, the motion trajectory which is suitable for grinding involute helical drill point is selected, namely the two slider move in the opposite direction at the same time, and have a different speed. In addition, the involute spiral surface flank(drill outside flank and core drilling sites flank) parameter equation is built in the drill point coordinate system. At last, a mathematical model is derived from the main cutting edge and chisel edge based on the rake face of mathematical equation.(3) According to the derivation of the mathematical model, the half angle, the horizontal edge analysis structure of circumferential angle, the outer turning point angle and horizontal angle of cutting edge of the drill point is analyzed, and then establish the relation equation of drill point structural parameters. At last, the grinding parameters are established.(4) The involute helical drill point model is established in Pro/E, and the model is transformed into.stl type to import the finite element analysis software DEFORM-3D. The drilling force by process, temperature, and the results are analyzed, and are compared with the ordinary drill.(5) The corresponding grinding parameters can obtained by the relationship between the parameters of equation by the drill point structural parameter and grinding. The grinding experiment is did in two parallel NC machine tool to determine the optimal edge tool grinding position, grind out the reasonable parameters of hemp flowers drill according to the different grinding parameters.The research shows that:biglide machine tool can sharpen the involute helical drill point, thus developing the correctness of the mathematical model. Through the simulation and drilling experiments, we can conclude that:the involute helical drill point has many advantages, such as:good centering, small drilling axial force, easy chip removal ability, good drill hole, and so on.
