Shearer is one of the most important mining equipment of the fully mechanized coal face, while the working part spiral drum of shearer takes two tasks that is breaking and charging the coal, it consumes the most power, in order to improve the utilization of coal resources and min-ing efficiency, it is very essential to design design a shearer cutting drum which has good per-formance.Base on the cutting mechanism, using MATLAB and EXCEL develop the shearer drum-aided design software, it solves the problems such as modeling drum, calculate the rate of cutting areas and founder, draw the graph of cutting, picks arrangement, cutting performance and generate load text for dynamic reliability analysis.According to the drum size, nature of picks and coal, the occurrence condition of coal face, determined condition and other relevant parame-ters, apply the software to design two kinds of picks arrangement drum for SL1000 shearer, by comparing the cutting performance and the reliability of the key parts,determine the cross-type arrangement is more economic and reasonable. The software can design a shearer drum quickly, achieve high yield, high efficiency, low energy consumption targets, short the design time, im-prove the design capability and performanceof shearer drum.
