In the process of developing ocean,human has been facing controlling marine fouling organisms attached problem.Solvent-based TBT-free self-polishing antifouling paint will kill marine fouling organisms,it can maintain the bottom smooth.But solvent-based systems will affect operators' health,and pollute the environment.This paper studies the self-polishing antifouling paint zinc water borne acrylic resin.In order to improve the content of zinc acrylic monomer,firstly,use benzoic acid,acrylic acid and homemade zinc hydroxide to compound zinc acrylic monomer,and then with other acrylic monomers compound zinc acrylic resin.Zinc acrylic monomer is white powder.Using density gauge to measure monomer density and using DSC to reach thermal analysis.Using infrared spectrum to characterize zinc acrylic monomer,and analyzing the solubility of zinc acrylic monomer.It shows that zinc acrylic monomer's density is 1.230g/cm3 and melting point is 118?.It can only be dissolved in ammonia,under 80 ?,the zinc acrylic monomer's solubility is 13.8g in ammonia.Based on theory of emulsion polymerization,making an experimental emulsion formulation,including the choices and the ratio of soft and hard monomers,emulsifier and initiator dosage;and according to this formulation design the corresponding preparation process.Discusses the different acrylic acid zinc content of ammonia solution,zinc ammonia solution way and acrylic acid on the properties of emulsion acrylic.The results of the emulsion performance show that the optimal formula and process of emulsion polymerization.The preparation of polypropylene zinc acrylic ammonia use solution polymerization with distillation under reduced pressure,steamed out part of the solvent,then by adding ammonia,to increase the water soluble.The zinc polypropylene emulsion prepared in the process matches the structural requirements by infrared absorption spectrum.By 1H-NMR,it can be calculated that zinc acrylic monomer reaction rate was 75%,polypropylene zinc acrylic ammonia monomer reaction rate was 84%,more than traditional solvent-based acrylic resin,while zinc polypropylene emulsion and polypropylene zinc acrylic ammonia copper ion release rate and the polishing performance also improved.
