Schedule planning,management optimization and progress control on a project are integral parts of project management system,which involves the effective management activities in the aspects of planning,organization,implementation,control,follow-ups,analysis and assessment for the project,all that are the key steps to complete the project successfully;Therefore,it is a prerequisite or basis for the project to make it profitable.Study on schedule planning and progress control for a project has become one of the hot topics in the field of modern project management.The project is featured with long construction period,large investment,complex internal structure,relative wide external relations;Provided that it fails to conduct an integrated planning overall in advance and efective progress control in accordance with the time schedule,it is more easily to deviate from the target,and thus,it is possible to cause huge losses to the construction company that undertakes to construct the project.Therefore,whether the project can be completed and turn the key to the owner within the pre-set time schedule or not plays a main role in how much the project can make profits from the investment.In the process of project construction,those that management theory,tools and methods with regarding to the project progress schedule are to be used in the project schedule planning,management optimization and progress control so as to guarantee the project be completed within the specified time schedule,which has already been considered as general acknowledged norms and common practice in this industry.The project of processing tar of S Steel-making company in Guangdong is taken as a case to be described in the study,the principle,tool,method regarding with the project progress management are to be applied in,and put it into practice.In order to formulate and optimize the time schedule for the project,and control the progress of it in the process of project construction,and analyze the factors which have impacts the progress of the project,the measures that prevent the project from delaying are shown as follows.It elaborates the importance and necessity of project management in details;additionally,it generally specifies the theory and the method of the management on project progress and time schedule.Meanwhile,it introduces the background,the significance,and the existing status of the researches in China and globally,and it analyzes on the general situation,organization structure of the restricting factors project of tar processing of S steel company in Guangdong.This paper focuses on how to prepare the overall progress schedule for the project of tar processing applied with the methods and the tools of project progress management,and optimized it based on the project time schedule;after that,it supervise any deviation from the planned project progress according to the preset schedule and makes analysis on it,in turn,to take measures to adjust and update schedule timely.It summarizes the research results,describing the limitations and shortcomings in the recent researches,and suggests the expectations on the future's developments.
