Engineering design,as an indispensable part,plays a very critical role in an engineering project.It directly determines if the project is economical,feasible and safe.In the meantime,it also impacts the practicability of the constructions and equipment after the project is completed.Currently,existing literatures on the research of the engineering project are mainly focused on the overall management and risk management.Although some studies have been conducted regarding the risk identification and assessment in engineering design,little effort has been done on the risk identification and assessment in engineering design of the ever-growing relocation projects.Despite the similarities that can be found between the engineering design risks of the relocation and new construction,the former has its own uniqueness.As the number of the relocation project increases rapidly,the demand on the research of risk management in the engineering design is also rising in order to effectively guide the relocation projects.In this work,based on the current national and international research,analysis and exploration of the risk management in the engineering design of the relocation projects are performed using an example of the COREX relocation project in A STEEL Company.Firstly,after the introduction to the COREX relocation project in A STEEL Company,comparisons are made between a common project and the A STEEL Company project in terms of the uniqueness and developing pattern.Based on the segmentation of the engineering design,a risk identification pattern of the relocation project,namely R-SPC risk identification model,is proposed.Subsequently,risk identification of the relocation project is performed utilizing the author's previous professional experience,literature review and the discussion with experts.Through the data analysis of the questionnaire,risk level of each risk factor in this relocation project is obtained and ten risk factors in a relocation project are derived.In addition,following the analysis of the identified risk factors,a risk assessment system for this relocation project is constructed.The analytic hierarchy process and the fuzzy synthetic evaluation method are explored to evaluate this relocation project to ultimately determine the risk level of the engineering design.In the end,analysis of example risk factors in this relocation projects are performed in terms of the monitoring,prevention,aversion,transfer,mitigation and acceptance of the risk,the concept of “people-oriented” risk management in engineering design was put forward and the results of the design risk management of this engineering project are summarized.This work studies the risk identification and assessment in the engineering design of the relocation projects and provides both theoretical and practical guidance.On one hand,it enriches the theory of the risk management in the engineering design of the relocation projects;on the other hand,it enhances the risk awareness in these designs,directs the risk management of similar projects,facilitates the engineering design of the relocation projects and lays the foundations for the safety,reliability and economical applicability during and after the construction..
