Paper is aimed at studying the relationship between air quality and motor vehicle emissions in Beijing. The paper uses the measurement model to estimate the total amount of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides,PM10 and sulfur dioxide.Determine the factors that affect the air quality significantly, then establish model between Beijing air quality and motor vehicle emission, and draw the corresponding conclusions.First of all,the paper analyses change trend of main pollutants in Beijing.lt is found that the air quality of Beijing shows a trend that is seasonal and regional. The concentration of pollutants is lower between June and September. And it shows a higher concentration between November and January. There are many factors such as geography, climate and human activities influencing air quality. And the factor of human activities, which is divided into industrial pollutants, transport, demography and policies,is a major cause of deteriorating air quality.Secondly, the paper measures different types of motor vehicle exhaust emission. It is found that private cars have the highest share of pollutants accounting for more than 95%.Heavy lorry has a decline trend of share rate of pollution in 2009 to 2010 and in 2014 to 2015.Public car remains 1.5%of share rate of pollution. Finally,we discuss the relationship between air quality and motor vehicle exhaust emission. It brings conclusion that the gross domestic product, greening rate, coal consumption, motor vehicle ownership and vehicle emissions of major pollutants is a significant factor affecting air quality in Beijing by the way of absolute gray relational degree and generalized gray relational degree. In view of the direct linear relationship between motor vehicle ownership and motor vehicle exhaust emissions, the use of significant factors other than motor vehicle ownership factors as independent variables to establish multiple regression model. We find that which coefficient of gross domestic product is negative shows increase of GDP reduces the amount of pollutants in Beijing. And the motor vehicle pollutant emissions can explain 72.82%of the Beijing carbon monoxide emission. It is main cause of carbon monoxide emission in Beijing.Other factors such as coal account for 27.18%of the carbon monoxide emission in Beijing. The motor vehicle ownership discussed in this paper is limited to the vehicles registered in the traffic authority in Beijing. It indicates that the root cause for high carbon monoxide is the local motor vehicle emission. In addition to that coal has a significant effect on air quality in Beijing. The amount of coal can explain 40.5%of change of nitrogen dioxide emission in Beijing.
