Acrylate copolymer emulsion has been widely used in the industry owing to many advantages such as low cost,abrasion resistance,heat resistance,and many other advantages.But there still exists many defects:lower rigidity,tending to get soft,poor water resistance of cured film,et.al.Nowadays,with the improvement of the awareness of environment,the residual monomer in the acrylate copolymer emulsion not only cause the waste of raw materials,but also result in some serious environmental pollutions,what's more the extremely pungent odor harms the common people's health.Therefore,the reduction of residual monomer content is not only the expectation of each producer,but also the pursuit of all researchers.Lower residual monomer content of the acrylate copolymer emulsion is of great significance in practical production and has a remarkable commercial attraction.In this paper,butyl acrylate?BA?used as the soft monomer,using high-performance emulsifier alkyl phenol ether sulfosuccinate sodium salt?MS-1?and anionic emulsifier compound,synthesized styrene-acrylic emulsion and tertiary emulsion respectively,the properties of the emulsions were highly improved than the traditional emulsions;Based on the theme of the green chemistry,the main novelty in this research is to explore the polymerization formula and process and many other factors on the residual monomer content,expecting to provide references for the related research and industrial applications.?1?Styrene-acrylic emulsion was characterized by FT-IR?DSC?TEM,the results shows the emulsions were synthesized successfully.After condition investigation,the styrene-acrylic emulsion has good stability,better water absorption,the emulsion has excellent coating performance,when he ratio of 4%SDS,MS-1 was 3:2,the ratio of soft and hard monomer was 1:11:1.25,and 4%functional monomer IA,HEA,0.4%pH buffer content,the polymerization temperature of 80 oC.?2?The content of residual monomer in the styrene-acrylic emulsion was systematically studied,we tried to improve the polymerization formula and process.Based on the analysis of the orthogonal experiment,the factors affecting the residual monomer content in the emulsion system were discussed in details.We carried out a series of conditions such as the concentration of hydrazine hydrate,emulsifier type and content,initiator content,polymerization temperature and other factors,then we found that hydrazine hydrate concentration of 0.8 mol/L,using 3%SDS/MS-1 compound,and the ratio is 2:3 or so,0.5%initiator,the reaction of 67 h under 80oC,vacuumized 30 min,the emulsion system of residual monomer content can be reduced to below 0.1%.?3?Veova-acrylic emulsion was characterized by FT-IR?DSC?TEM,the results shows the emulsions were synthesized successfully.After condition investigation,when the ratio of Veova was 12%and the content of emulsifier was 4%,the ratio is 1:3 to 1:4 and the content of functional monomer was 4%,the initiator content was 0.5%0.6%,the pH buffer agent content was 0.4%,the polymerization temperature was 75 oC for 6 h Veova-acrylic emulsion has good stability,?4?Systematic study on the content of residual monomer in Veova-acrylic emulsion.When the concentration of hydrazine hydrate was 0.6 mol/L,the content of molybdenum/nonionic emulsifier was 3%The initiator APS/NaHSO3 content was 0.4%0.5%and the buffer content was 0.4%at the polymerization temperature of 80°C for 6 h.Under the polymerization process,the residual monomer content could reach below 0.5%.
