The ability of the water environment to maintain water ecological stability while sustain healthy development of the society-economy can be reflected by water environmental carrying capacity(WECC).The evaluation of WECC quantizes the developmental state of the water resources-society and economy-water ecology in the certain region,and it can also be evaluated dynamically.Henan Province is located at junction of China's north and south,with unique geographical and economic advantages.What's more,it is also an agricultural province,so the non-point source pollution can't be ignored;the rapid development of industry also makes the pollution increased.The whole system is in imbalance condition when it coupled with the neglect of environmental plans and managements.The WECC of Henan province and the five typical areas are evaluated according to the characteristics of water environment in Henan Province,the developmental situation of nature and society,environmental protection of Henan Province.Therefore,the status of WECC was revealed and the factors influencing the WECC are analyzed.The concrete contents and achievements are as follows:(1)The basic situation of Henan Province are summarized,including the general situation of the natural environment,the society and economy,water resources and water environment.The results showed that the imbalanced distribution of water resources in time and space,serious water pollution,wasted phenomena of domestic water and so on;(2)The WECC index system was established on the basis of the principles of establishing index system while all kinds of data had been collected and sorted;(3)Analytic hierarchy process(AHP)-vertical scatter degree method was used to assess the WECC of Henan Province in the year of 2011 to 2015,and the results showed that the WECC of Henan Province was increasing,but it was not stable;(4)The WECC standard of Henan Province was established according to the index data of 18 provincial cities.And then genetic projection pursuit model was applied to build the grade evaluation model of WECC of Henan Province.Five regions with typical characteristics were selected as research objects,and the WECC grade values of the five areas were calculated by the established grade evaluation model.The results showed that the WECC grade values of Xinyang City and Zhoukou City are in enhanced trend of the year from 2011 to 2015,besides,Zhoukou City was more stable;but the WECC grade values of other three cities were all weakened;(5)Based on the WECC evaluation of Henan Province and the five typical provincial cities,the concrete measures to improve the WECC were put forward,such as the development of reasonable economic strategy,exploring new water resources,saving water and controlling pollution,increasing investment in scientific research and developing new technologies actively,and strengthening awareness of all aspects of environmental protection.
