With the development of the display technology, soft proofing has become a key technology in the area of color management. As an important part of color management technology, soft proofing has a great significance on color reproduction. In fact, due to the difference of device gamut and different demands for color reproduction, soft proofing which is used in manufacturing process can't fully meet the needs of users and achieve the goal of "what you see is what you get".In order to solve these problems, this paper researches and analyses the problems arising in the soft proofing process. Based on the comprehensive analysis of color management principles and methods, the monitor is calibrated and the best color temperature is set to 6500K. The best brightness is set to 120cd/m2 and the best gamma is set to 2.2. We analyzed gamma value,brightness and color temperature impact to the output effect using the range theory. Experiments are conducted to analyze the color gamut of display, spatial uniformity and stability. ICC profile of the printer is established and optimized by EFI. Based on the above work, the soft proofing is executed in Photoshop. ICC profile is optimized by Profile Editor to solve problems in practical production. All these results show soft proofing result has been improved effectively, and soft proofing can be used in practice.
