Ultra-high speed grinding,due to its low grinding force,high material removal rate and the improvement of the grinding performance of the difficult-to-machining material,has brought revolutionary changes to the traditional grinding technology,which is the future development direction of the grinding machining.Aiming at the shortcomings of grinding wheels with metal material body like greater mass,lower specific strength and specific modulus,lead to lower machining precision and surface quality of ultra-high speed grinding,this paper optimal designed and manufacture of lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced polymer(CFRP)body grinding wheel by finite element analysis and experiment method,for further excavate the advantages of ultra-high speed grinding.This paper mainly completed the following work:(1)The evaluation factors of grinding performance of ultra-high speed grinding wheel were put forward.Finite element analysis and experiment method was used to evaluate the grinding performance of grinding wheels with different material body.The results show that in the condition of high speed grinding,the stress distribution,radial deformation,grinding force,power and vibration of CFRP grinding wheels were better than that of steel body.(2)Based on the experimental results of high speed grinding,according to the stress and strain distribution,modal and aerodynamic characteristics,this paper optimal designed the cross-sectional shape of the grinding wheel body,laminate process and the block by finite element method.Finally,a design of CFRP grinding wheels for ultra-high speed grinding was developed.(3)The machining process of CFRP grinding wheel was determined,a kind of CFRP grinding wheels for ultra-high speed grinding was manufactured.In view of the influence of centrifugal force on the safety of the wheel in the condition of ultra-high speed,the dynamic balance test and the safe rotation test were carried out.The performance of CFRP grinding wheels ware comprehensively evaluated based on radial deformation of grinding wheels,grinding force,power and vibration.The results showed that CFRP grinding wheels had low the radial deformation,grinding power and vibration,which can meet the requirements of ultra-high speed grinding.
