Silk fabric is known for its magnificent appearance and soft hand feeling.Silk industry chain becomes more and more limited.With the growth of chemical fiber industry,people pay effort to broaden the application of silk,and hope to maintain the features of silk when modifying and remolding.The research of imitated silk fabric is in the ascendant.PLA is coming from crops which are full of starch,it is a kind of degradable biologic material.This research is focusing on the effect by combining PLA and silk into mixed fabrics.Thirty-one fabrics were designed and weaved,and divided into four series,analyses are based on the tests for fabric wearing abilities,style and degradation property,including air permeability,moisture-penetrability,wrinkle recovery ability,anti-pilling resistance,stiffness,handle style,glossiness and degradation property.According to the analyses,features for imitated silk fabric and the effect of PLA filament are found.Wear ability of PLA/silk mixed fabricsPLA will reduce the air permeability and wrinkle recovery ability of fabric,but it will promote fabrics' moisture penetrability,anti-pilling resistance and stiffness.In order to improve the air permeability of PLA/silk mixed fabric,lower the cover factor is a good way.PLA will promote fabric moisture-penetrability because of its wicking effection.However,the high thermal shrinkage rate reduces the elastic recovery ability of PLA filament;thus,fabric wrinkle recovery ability will be affected.Use silk as warp,increase filament thickness or reduce fabric cover factor will improve this condition.PLA filament could enhance fabric anti-pilling resistance and stiffness.Using satin or 2/2twill structure will be beneficial to cut down fabric stiffness.Handle style of PLA/silk mixed fabricsPLA will increase the stiffness,flatness and smoothness of fabric,especially when using PLA as warp.However,it will reduce the softness,fullness and suppleness handle.Adjusting fabric cover factor,yarns thickness and fabric density can change these handle style values.Results show that using silk as warp make the imitated mixed fabric much more similar to pure silk fabric.The specific production parameters are as following: Using silk(3/22.2/24.4dtex 2.5T)as warp,PLA filament(75dtex/48f)as weft.When the fabric structure is twill,the advised weaving density of warp is 600 per 10 cm,and the density of weft should between 400 and 550 per 10 cm.When the structure is satin,the advised weaving density of warp is 720 per 10 cm,and the density of weft should between 400 and500 per 10 cm.When weaving silk crepe de chine,the weaving density of warp is better at600 per 10 cm,and the weft density should be around 400 per 10 cm.Glossiness of PLA/silk mixed fabricsPLA will enhance the glossiness of fabric,pure PLA fabric is the brightest one comparing to PLA/silk mixed fabric and pure silk fabric.During the actual production of PLA/silk fabric,it should be noticed that when imitating twill or satin fabric,PLA filament will increase the glossiness of the direction perpendicular to PLA filament,but when imitating silk crepe de chine,the glossiness of mixed fabric will be similar to pure silk fabric in both direction if silk is used as warp.Degradation property of PLA/silk mixed fabricsWhen degrading in the same natural environment,silk will be easier to degrade,comparing with PLA filament.This lead to the different degradation rates of PLA/silk mixed fabric and pure silk fabric.
