Since the 1950 s, Xi'an ground fissures have become a problem which restricting urban construction and economic development. In order to reduce the disaster of ground fissures on buildings, avoidance measures were written into the specification as a mandatory requirement, and it has been in use ever since. If principle of space avoidance is carried out in Xi'an, it could away from the harm from the ground fissure activities and reduce the risk of construction projects in region of ground fissures. With the continuous development of the city, land in the city has also been increasing appreciation. When some buildings had to construct across the ground fissures, it will waste limited land resources if Ground fissures site is not be used, which makes urban planning and construction to be restricted. In summary, probing the change of displacement and internal forces from building crossing ground fissures when the building is in the action of ground fissures in area of ground fissures is needed. Then,the law of dynamic response from building crossing ground fissures when the building is in the earthquake should be searched. Basis of using land resources fully could be provided, which is served for cities with more serious ground fissures.Based on the previous studies on the current situation on the basis of ground fissures summary, some disaster of ground fissures has been investigated, and a concrete frame structure crossing f4 which is a ground fissure in Xi'an has been analyzed in this paper.This building is referring to a real building crossing a ground fissure. The modes of ground fissures site soil and the superstructure have been established by the finite element software ABAQUS in this paper, then different locations about superstructure crossing the ground fissure have been set up which is based on different conditions. On the one hand, the influence of the superstructure caused by uneven settlement during theapplication stage would be investigated, while the initial displacement is applied on the hanging wall. On the other hand,elasto-plastic time-history analysis on the superstructure which is in the earthquake could been made while different seismic waves would be input from bottom of the soil. The elastic and elasto-plastic inter story drifts, the acceleration of the top, floor shear, and internal forces from the superstructure in different cases would be figure out. The performance of superstructure crossing the ground fissure under the uneven settlement and the earthquake would be shown clearly.Then, the most unfavorable position about superstructure crossing the ground fissure would be found. Finally, in-depth study on damage mechanism from superstructure crossing the ground fissure under the earthquake and the ground fissure would be researched, and a reference to measures on disaster prevention would be provided.
