Modern media plaza of Suzhou Radio and Television Station is constructed By ZHONGYIFENG Construction Group Co., Ltd. The atrium s steel structure roof of the office building is in shape of arc catenary with large elevation difference between the two ends. The overall appearance is beautiful, fashionable and unique. Due to its unique style, the installation of steel structure is extremely difficult and the construction procedure is relatively complex. Therefore, the construction process analysis and real-time monitoring is especially important.Segmental-accumulating sliding method was adopted for construction of the arc roof steel structure. Therefore, sliding force analysis and real-time monitoring is the control points in the process during the atrium s arc steel structure roofing construction.In order to test the feasibility of construction scheme of atrium arc steel structure roofing slip, SAP2000 program was used to built the analysis model and the stress and deformation of curved steel roofing were analyzed. ABAQUS program was used to built the detailed three dimensional model of the supporting end of the arc steel roofing. Internal force and deformation after unloading was calculated, result from which was used to determine the detailed design of supporting(sliding) ends. Real-time monitoring was conducted and various data in the actual construction slip was obtained to analyze the characteristics of catenary arc type steel structure, which can be used as a reference for the future similar curved steel roof sliding construction.From the research results of this paper, following conclusions can be drawn:(1) Reasonable detailed design of the sliding supporting ends and keep the ends sliding simultaneously is the key to this kind of steel roof sliding construction;(2) For arc catenary steel structure with large elevation difference at the two ends, there is a big difference of reaction force in the upper and lower ends. Reaction force mainly concentrates in the upper, which was much big than that of the lower ends. Concern should be taken for this issue;(3) Stop blocks are needed in the horizontal direction as well as the vertical direction to resisting the moving in the vertical direction, especially at the lower end.(4) Tie rod between the arc catenary steel beams was not strong enough to bear the force, hence additional beam was needed between the arc catenary steel beams to improve the overall strength during the sliding.
