With the development of computer technology, network communication technology and microelectronic technology, the integrated substation automation system has been applied widespread in the field of power system. As we can see from the practice, the integrated automation has brought about a series of automatic technology reforms in fields of substation design, installation, debugging, operation, maintenance, management and so forth.This thesis analyses functions and development trends of the integrated automation, based on the whole designing process of a 66 kV substation for a specific unit. Through structural analysis of the substation system, the writer, keeping in mind the automation designing principles, proposes the transformer substation integrated automation control system block diagram, and designs a plan which contains the equipment protection and monitoring, the design of telemechanics and computer monitoring system, communications system and so on. Furthermore, the background system structure is built up in the thesis and hardware as well as software of the equipment is reasonably chosen in this thesis. Among the high-up dispatching, the substation layer and the space layer, they can be realized through the Ethernet connection from the central computer of the substation layer to the sensor network. The application of PS6000+ integrated substation automation control software is used to configuration of PC monitoring system and finishing design of the integrated substation automation system. Simulating the common fault of the substation power system short circuit by MATLAB and making study on the phenomenon that the dramatic changes of voltage and current influence integrated substation automation system in the power system. Finally, the design of integrated substation automation system is summarized, and the emergence of digital substation is prospected.
