Firstly, the dissertation tries to conclude and explain the concepts of modularity a nd space. It summarizes the involving concepts giving them detailed definition, analy zes how modularity develops as a manipulation in history finding out its specific appli cations, and studies the different period of modular usage(modular space design, mod ular construction, and modular design combined construction).Secondly, the dissertation analyzes three mature cases of modular productions: cars, ships, and aircrafts, while analysis these processes of modular operation make us deeply understand the meaning of modularity system and it specific operations. Analysis the modular influence of design combined construction and the specific modular operations from the perspective of product manufacturing to inspire the architecture.Then divides the architecture space combination under modularity system into two parts: module unit and modular combination. In these two parts, separately explain how modularity method could be used in architecture design or construction, and try to discuss space under modularity system which belongs to industrial condition. In the chapter of module unit, writer describes and concludes the characteristics and development of module unit from basic module, interface module and space module. Basic module focuses on the shape of module unit, while interface module pay emphasis on how the interface influence the unit space, including some construction problems, and space module keep eyes on how to deal with the space unit using modular method. In the chapter of modular combination, writer describes and concludes the specific manipulating methods and characteristics of modular combination from basic manipulating methods, the classification of spatial architecture and traditional architecture and fractal. The basic manipulating methods include 4 types: split, dislocation, rotating and overlapping; the classification of spatial architecture divides architecture into two different types based on the final shape of the building: single building and group of buildings; the traditional architecture and fractal tries to add some fresh elements into the traditional modular theory.Finally, make the summary of all articles, and give the prospect of future modular development in a reasonable scope.
