Traditional body design and manufacturing have many shortcomings in meeting the needs of future products,which was already became bottlenecks in shortening product development cycle and reducing development cost in production process and process flow.In terms of modularity,it is difficult to meet the consumer demand for"diversification,individualization and customization".In the application of materials,the contribution of traditional steel materials to safety,energy conservation and environmental protection has been relatively low effect.Aiming at the shortcomings of the traditional body structure in shortening the product development cycle and reducing the development cost,this paper puts forward a new method based on the new material and new structure of the car body modular design.First of all,we expounds the shortcomings of traditional car body structure design,performance design,manufacturing and other aspects in the development process by analyzing the material composition and design method of the traditional body structure.It is pointed out that in the process of vehicle body development,due to the lack of design and production of the parts,the part structure design,the performance verification and the production and development are duplicated in the body development process,resulting in a huge waste of resources.Moreover,this traditional process model also makes the body structure into a dilemma,if we choose a high degree of modularity,we have to endure the product appearance homogeneity shortcomings,and if we choose product diversification,we cannot achieve a high degree of modularity.Secondly,based on the research of new material,new technology and new structure,combined with the characteristics and requirements of modularization,we have studied a kind of body structure design method which is advantageous to implement highly modularization.By comparing the advantages of modularization with the traditional production methods,this paper expounds the importance of the modular design to the development of the automobile body.In the study of the modular body structure based on new materials,it is found that the modular body structure design method not only helps to improve the usability of body parts and functional modules,but also helps to reduce the weight of the body structure.Finally,compared to the two design methods,it shows that when the modular body structure design method is adopted,the modular system of the vehicle body is built,it has the advantage of shortening the product cycle and enriching the product variety.It can significantly shorten the development cycle,reduce development costs and reflect the product differences.The modular body structure design method meets that "safety,energy saving and environmental protection" at the same time,but also to adapt to the future consumer demand for "diversification,individualization and customization".
