Water damage of highway asphalt pavement is a very prevalent phenomenon in our country, especially in guangdong province, which have high temperature and rainy and high traffic, is most serious. The precaution measures must be comprehensive and systemic for so many incenitive of water damage. In this pap r, it has been done that the survey of water damage of highway asphalt pave in guangdong province, undertook an analysis to its cause of formation,as well as put forward the preventing measures: every layer of asphalt surface use dense asphalt concrete whose porosity less than 5%, according to the need for proper drainage design, improve the compaction standard, reduce the porosity in site, improve the cohesive force of asphalt and mineral aggregate, strictly the pavement construction quality, strengthen traffic management and maintenance management.Boiling water method was not suitable for Determining Adhesion of Asphalt and Coarse Aggregate with subjective and weak resolution.Boiling test was proposed to determine adhesivenss of asphalt and coarse aggregate,which recorded time of asphalt diastasis from the coarse aggregate in 100? boiling water.Though some modified asphalt and matrix asphalt with granite aggregate use boiling test and freeze-thaw splitting test all proved that: boiling test is effective.
