Research On The Management Of Municipal Solid Waste In Ha Long City,Quang Ninh Province

Ha Long is the capital city as well as political, economic and cultural pivot of Quang Ninh Province. The name “Ha Long” originates from its short distance to the most famous tourism scenic region –Ha Long Bay.Besides, Ha Long itself is also an international tourist city. The renowned scenic spot Ha Long Bay in this region was adopted into the World Nature Heritage Site List by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1994 and was nominated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Under the pressure of 2.5 million tourists per year, a huge amount of household garbage emerges and is increasing annually. On that occasion, both the urban beauty and citizens’ physiological and psychological health conditions were severely affected.As always, the Ha Long Government implements positive political navigations, financial support and charitable social activities to inspire people to participate in urban garbage management, Nevertheless, due to lack of available budget and deficiency of relevant works which should have been done by corresponding departments regarding environmental protections and garbage management, ignorance towards concrete resolutions of household garbage collections and degradations. Moreover,a succession of issues concerning the accordance of technology and operating standards with household garbage management crowded in. All these factors lead to the fact that the progress in household garbage management is still facing multiple difficulties and challenges. Resolving this “household garbage” issue can not only contribute to a good urban living environment but also polish up the civic image and reinforce the base for the city’s development. This article is devoted to researching in center of “household garbage management issue arisen from HaLong—the capital of Quang Ninh, Vietnam”. By means of pinpointing existing barriers and figuring out pertinent resolutions to household garbage management in Ha Long, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam,relevant guidance and analogy would be unveiled and be utilized in other Vietnamese cities with respect to household garbage management.
