| Stability of caisson structure against sliding and overturning is an important aspect in gravity quay structure design. At present, reliability-based Partial Factor Method in used in Design and Construction Code for Gravity Quay (JTS 167-2-2009). The Reliability Index Design Method is also provided in the appendix D of the Code. What’s more, the Simplified Reliability Index Design Method is put forward in the project of Science and Technology Project of Western Transportation Construction of Ministry of Transport "Research of Reliability Index Design Method of Gravity Quay Against Sliding and Overturning". In order to compare the results of different design methods, this paper choosing certain number of caisson quays for examples, the researches are obtained as follows:(1) The anti-sliding and anti-overturning design of caisson quays are designed by reliability-based Partial Factor Method set in present code.(2) The anti-sliding and anti-overturning design of caisson quays are designed by reliability-based Partial Factor Method set in the Appendix D of code.(3) The anti-sliding and anti-overturning design of caisson quays are designed by Simplified Reliability Index Design Method.(4) The results of different design methods are compared.It is indicated that sometimes the results obtained by reliability-based Partial Factor Method is different from the results obtained by Reliability Index Design Method. What’s more, the results obtained by Reliability Index Design Method and obtained by Simplified Reliability Index Design Method are almost identical. |
