A transshipping vessel is composed of cargo ships, the ship loader and the ship unloader, that is developed mainly for the specific area of loading and unloading port. As for the research on transshipping vessels in our country, it is started in these years. Not only the technical accumulations are lack of, but also the cost of its design and manufacture is high. Thus, there is not a large-scale transshipping vessel appeared on the domestic market. What’s more, the ship’s core technology is the ship unloading system, research on the design of unloading system mounted on 5000t/h transshipping vessel will contribute to the diversification of the maritime industry reshipment ship products and environmental protection, and can expand the international market, and enhance the competitiveness of their own.Firstly, the thesis clarifies the design of the transshipping vessel unloading system on the base of the existing mature methods and experience then combined with the finite element analysis, according to the main parameters of structure provided by Australian MRL company.The main work of this paper is as the following:(1) Introducing the background of the research field and making a brief review of the development and application of the unloading system of the domestic and foreign ship unloading system.(2) The whole design procedure and the calculation method of the main parts of the unloading system are detailed demonstrated, which can be referred for the design of the unloading equipment.(3) Taking the 5000t/h transshipping vessel project as an example which is the present project of our company in process, the layout design of process of the reclaiming and the unloading device in the unloading system is completed here as the key parts in this project. Firstly, the driving force and power for the bucket wheel is determined after detailed calculation. And the style is also discussed based on the calculated results. Secondly, the conveying capacity of the transporting system is determined in according to the transported material and custom demanding. Not only the figure of the material mounted on the conveyor belt but also the resisting force and belt deflection are considered when calculating the capacity. At last the satisfied power and force are presented.(4) In according to the rules of FEM applied when designing the transshipping vessel, the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the main structures in 5000t/h transshipping vessel is done and there are 3 kinds of load combinations involved. The most main structures of analysis modes are built including bucket wheel, beam of supporting bucket wheel, unloading device and the links. The mechanic conditions are abstracted and the elements types are well selected concerning to the relevant parts. The acceptance criteria are presented here for meeting the requirements of the rules, smaller deflection and better intensity. So the unloading system is optimized and re-designed based on the FEA calculating results.The research is focusing on the reasonability and feasibility of the overall layout and structure of the unloading system. And a series of follow-up work in this field is launched as the guidance. Meanwhile it is also a useful reference for the design of other mechanical unloading.
