Application Of Rock Asphalt In National And Provincial Highway Of Heavy Traffic

Buton Rock Asphalt(BRA) is a kind of bituminous substance which is generated after the hundreds of millions of years of deposition and changes of the petroleum when it is in the condition of the combined effects of heat stress, oxidation, bacteria and so on.It is a new environmentally friendly paving material,modifying asphalt through physical and chemical reactions.Both of the domestic and foreign researches and applications show that the nature of the BRA is stable, the modification process is simple,and generally it has a excellent road performance.The paper studied the design of mix proportion of basis asphalt mixture, modified Buton Rock Asphalt mixture and SBS modified asphalt mixture with AC-16 C and AC-25 C.Besides,It conducted a comparative analysis of pavement performance,mechanical properties,social and economic benefits and other aspects of the three kinds of asphalt mixture.Experimental results are enumerated below. In terms of road performance, the High-temperature stability, and moisture susceptibility properties of BRA modified asphalt mixture complied with the technical requirements of specifications,moreover,these properties improved to a certain extent with respect to the basis asphalt and SBS modified asphalt mixture,especially in the anti-rutting performance.And its low-temperature anti-cracking can meet the technical requirements. In terms of mechanical properties, Resilient Modulus of BRA modified asphalt mixture is highest,which indicated that BRA modified asphalt mixture have the best ability to withstand the loads. And the results of fatigue test analysis show that BRA modified asphalt mixture have the best fatigue durability.By the comparative analysis,we found that BRA could improve performance of the basis asphalt and its modified effect is better than SBS modified asphalt.By the comparative analysis of the technology and economy, it shows that the BRA can reduce pavement construction costs while effectively improving the pavement life.And with respect to the same modifier, its advantages are more prominent,which include operability,simple Construction process,no special equipment and energy savings. Many domestic successful cases also proved that the road performance of pavement engineering using Buton Rock Asphalt has greatly improved with respect to the ordinary asphalt pavement, Buton Rock Asphalt has good application prospects.
