As the proportion of Chinese building energy consumption increases year by year, sustainable and energy-saving buildings have drawn more people's attention. Since the 1980's, the development of building energy-saving has gone through three stages,30% energy saving, 50% energy saving,65% energy saving, and many substantial progresses have been made. In China, the existing building energy efficiency starts relatively late, so China has huge energy saving potential. Traditional building is a special group in existing buildings, therefore, energy-saving of traditional houses is unique too. It is worthy of study that how to take reasonable measures to reduce building energy consumption, improve the living comfort, while maintaining its unique historical character and cultural value.This paper takes a traditional house of Yangzhou Old City as example, to study the energy-saving reconstruction measures of traditional houses. First, the paper describes the background of Chinese traditional houses reconstruction and the basic situation of building energy-saving abroad, discusses the energy-saving methods and general principles of existing buildings. Then, take the characteristics of traditional houses into consideration, the paper analyzes and summarizes the energy saving measures which are suited to traditional housing. On this basis, a typical residential building of Yangzhou Old City is selected as a case to discuss energy-saving technical measures, perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of the critical passive measures by using DesT saving energy simulation software, at last, it shows the comprehensive comparison of multiple energy-saving reconstruction schemes, raise a suitable proposal of reconstruction.Based on the existing buildings energy-saving measures, this paper considers the characteristics and energy saving of traditional houses, a suitable passive energy-saving measures of the traditional house are proposed, they help to achieve 50% energy saving. Even through this paper just take one case in Yangzhou old city, but it also can provide reference for the energy saving of traditional houses in other urban areas, the directions and measures of energy-saving discussed in this papers have profound meaning and wide application.
