Power system requires huge assets investment and consumes massive fossil fuels. In the policy of energy-saving and emission reduction, maximizing the utilization efficiency of existing electrical equipment and reducing or delaying the current investment and new investment demand is helpful to improve the quality of power system development and the economic benefits of power enterprises, to promote sustainable development of power enterprises and the society. Fixed assets occupies a large proportion of assets in distribution network, and the low utilization efficiency of electrical equipment in distribution network is common, therefore evaluating and increasing utilization efficiency of electrical equipment in distribution network is of great significance.Based on the utilization efficiency evaluation system of electrical equipment in distribution network, the following researches are carried out in this paper.(1) The indexes for calculating electrical equipment utilization efficiency within life cycle assessment (LCA) are proposed. The indexes such as "utilization efficiency of lines based on grid structure", "annual utilization efficiency of electrical equipment" and "four-quadrant scatter diagram of medium-voltage lines planning" are put forward for calculating utilization efficiency of electrical equipment on active service. The utilization efficiency evaluation system includes evaluation for both retired electrical equipment and electrical equipment on active service.(2) The main factors that influence utilization efficiency are presented. The main factors have been analyzed from safety standards, demand for electricity, power grid construction, load characteristics, distributed generation, equipment life and loss and other aspects.(3) Technological means such as optimizing connection mode and accessing loads to supply facilities reasonably are put forward to improve the utilization efficiency of electrical equipment. And other measures to improving utilization efficiency are also summarized.In this paper, the utilization efficiency evaluation system of electrical equipment in distribution network is researched. The indexes for calculating utilization efficiency of electrical equipment within LCA are proposed, and utilization efficiency evaluation system of electrical equipment in distribution network is formed. The main factors that influence utilization efficiency are presented, and measures of improving utilization efficiency are proposed. This work can provide a reference for the management of electrical equipment of distribution network and distribution network planning.
