The construction of Smart Substation is the key link to establish the strong smart grid, the pace of construction of intelligent substation should accelerate and the level of intelligent power grid operation should be improve to save human resource and improve the production efficiency. In order to meet these requirements, new technology and equipment should be tested strictly, as far as possible to ensure the system operate stablely and safely, and improve the work efficiency.Compared to t traditional substation, Intelligent substation has a lot of new technologies and changings, especially the digitization of the process layer communication and standardization of the communication network, which affected the design, project implementation, operation and maintenance of the intelligent substation, so the traditional testing methods and equipment can not meet the test requirements of the intelligent substation and its equipment. With the development of smart grid, troubleshooting mode of the secondary system of the intelligent substation should affect safety and stability of the power grid deeply, such as the sampling value and the command of the secondary system are transmitted through optical fiber, the concept of "protection" has transformed from protect the devices to protect the system, so the traditional secondary equipment test project and troubleshooting method could not meet the requirement of the intelligent substation.This paper introduces RTDS platform and its required element characteristics and fault and switching control logic, Using the advantages of RTDS, five test system are designed and related test platforms are built, each of the test platforms has unique characteristics and is tested to verify the correctness of the test systems. When the smart substation fault occurs, the background monitoring system will have a large number of alarm signal, the operation personnel can not determine the fault region timely and accurately, the five test systems solves the technical difficult problem secondary system fault cannot investigate which puzzles the intelligent electrical substation...
