The Laos(Boten) to Vientiane(Vientiane) section of China-Laos railway territory construction plays important role to social and economic development, resource development and construction of modern integrated transportation network. Boten to Vientiane railway construction not only to achieve with Chinese railway network, but also with Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and other countries in the future. It is the main channel of the Trans-Asian Railway. Laos has become an important link of the Southeast Asian countries. It is the need of promoting the construction of the railway network in the neighboring countries of ASEAN.Because the long distance railway construction of Boten to Vientiane is the first time in Laos, and the railway terrain and geological conditions are complex, route selection design involves many research projects and factors. Thesis research work is focused on the following aspects:1) According to the natural and geological data along the line, considering the road network and the town planning, cultural and natural conditions, mineral distribution along the line, use variety of methods such as production and marketing balance method, elastic coefficient method and average growth rate method, predict short and long term passenger and freight traffic after the completion of the line. Combined with the specific circumstances of Boten to Vientian railway, do the research and focus on ruling grade, design speed, etc. Propose viable major technical standard protocol.2) As a cross-border railway connection, Boten is first class of land crossing from Laos to China. I t is also the special economic zone. The kind of customs clearance mode is adopted to determine the layout of the port station. Boten / Mohan area clearance mode mainly researches on "co-location" and "two location" two programs, analyze the advantages & disadvantages and possible issues. The "two location" customs clearance program is proposed temporarily.3) Study on route selection, considering network condition, development planning, regional economic point distribution, topographic and geologic conditions, etc, based on the geological condition to do the route selection of main sections, including the segment of Mohan to B HouaNam, B Narke to the Mekong River, LuangPrabang to kasi Village, B Phatang to Vangvieng Village, Vangvieng to Vientiane. Research from the aspects of engineering quantity, the cost of the project and geological conditions, etc, highlight the principle of geological line selection, determine the recommended program.4) Take the VangVieng to Vientiane segment trend plan selection as an example, analyze the application of multi criteria decision, build evaluation index system and selected evaluation indicators, carry out program evaluation using Grey Relational Analysis Degree Theory. It turns out that the results of the evaluation is identical with the design recommendation.
